My Starlight Horizons shares have been paying well, the last dividend was 8% and we're more than half way to the next dividend (the 1st of the month) but I have better paying prospects at the moment so I'm putting these up for auction.
10,000 Starlight Horizons Shares (originally purchased at 100k per share) Starting Bid: 100k ISK per share Minimum Volume: 1,000 shares Minimum Increment: 1k ISK per share Reserve: 106k ISK per share Ends: 2:00 EvE-time, Saturday, 4-19-08
Happy Bidding.

Originally by: Kareas Why is it that you do not start the auction off with a minimum of 106k instead of 100k? If you will not sell the shares for less than 106k that would seem like the smartest thing to do?
There's a reason starting bid and reserve are separate. Starting bid is the amount below which one absolutely will not sell the item. The reserve, on the other hand, is the price below which I don't want to sell, thus, the bids are not binding to the bidder or seller below that point but I can still feel out the market. Suppose I get valid bids (aka. above the starting) but they don't reach the reserve. I'm not bound to sell them at that price but now I at least have viable offers which I have the option to accept or pass. Plus, a low starting bid drums up more interest.

Reserves are for the careless auctioneer who hasn't done their homework...and they're worthless if not kept hidden until met.
There are way too many people that use "hidden" reserves on the sell forum because they want a price check, they don't actually have the item. Back when I traded heavily it was considered a shady business practice to list a hidden reserve so I avoid them out of habit both as a buy and seller.

If you would be so kind as to send 1.13B to me (Kwint Sommer) I'll send you your shares. Alternatively, you can contact a 3rd party and arrange something, whatever floats your boat.

Thank you, shares have been sent.
For the record, In the morning I'm heading out for some serious hiking in the White Mountains and won't be back until Monday at the earliest. So, if you have any questions regarding my recent sale of stocks and bonds it's now or next week.
